Message from the Minister

Andrew McNamara MP
The Honourable Andrew McNamara was sworn in as the Minister for Sustainability, Climate Change and Innovation on 13 September 2007.
Mr McNamara is looking forward to the challenge of addressing the significant issues facing Queensland and the world from the effects of climate change, and the opportunities provided by technology to provide a sustainable lifestyle for future generations.
Among his priorities are:
- dealing with the potential negative impacts of climate change;
- the development of viable renewable energy sources and energy security;
- developing more effective waste management systems which recognise the true cost and value of waste; and
- building resilience in our national parks and natural estate.
As the Member for Hervey Bay since 2001 and a Parliamentary Secretary prior to becoming a Minister, Andrew has been a strong advocate for the potential problems from the world's reliance on fossil fuels, and is recognised as one of Australia's leading advocates on the likelihood of peaking world oil supplies.
