Sustainability charter

The Sustainability Charter articulates the EPA's commitment to sustainable development — meeting the needs of our present world without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. It describes our values and business principles and will lead to the integration of environmental, social and economic considerations into all aspects of our business.

We recognise the magnitude of achieving sustainable development and are committed for the long-term.

The core of our charter is a set of values and business principles that will guide us in our day-to-day decision-making and in our interactions with each other and with the people of Queensland.

The Sustainability Charter is the catalyst for incorporating sustainability as a fundamental value in the way we conduct our business. It will be implemented through practical strategies aimed at: doing things smarter and more efficiently, creating more with less, eliminating waste, fully valuing our environment, and emphasising social equity.

The Sustainability Charter is a key element of the EPA's Strategic Plan 2003-06 and our progress towards developing suitable strategies and performance measures will be reported in the EPA's Annual Report 2002-03.

We are committed to achieving this.
