Offline applications should be sent to the address printed on the application cover sheet accompanying the role description.
Please note:
- All applications will be held for up to 12 months and you may be contacted regarding other identical vacancies (temporary or permanent).
- To be eligible for permanent employment as a public service officer, you must be an Australian citizen, or a permanent Australian resident, or a New Zealand citizen who has a special category visa or a right to be granted a special category visa under the Migration Act 1958 (Cwlth).
- If you are not eligible for permanent employment (as described above), you are still able to work in a temporary position if you have a valid visa permitting you to work in Australia. In this case, the work cannot extend beyond the expiry date of the visa and you will need to show the Agency evidence of the visa before the employment can be offered to you.
- The Agency encourages people with recognised overseas qualifications to apply. The EPA does not undertake this assessment. For further information refer to recognising Overseas applicants section.
- The EPA confidentially stores all recruitment and selection documentation for 12 months. Documentation for senior executive service positions is retained indefinitely.
Did you know? If you do not lodge your application by the closing date then you will not be able to lodge an appeal.
Expression of Interest
An Expression of Interest (EOI) is internal to the EPA and may be used to fill a vacancy for up to 12 months. EOIs are not merit based and no extension beyond this period is possible.The majority of EOIs will be sent out via an internal email but on occasions, they will be advertised on the Smart Jobs and Careers website. The EOI will state what information is required to be submitted but it is usually a CV and a brief statement detailing how your skills, knowledge, experience and personal attributes enable you to successfully perform the duties of the role.
With an EOI, the delegate can determine the information required to be submitted and the process to use to make the selection decision. It is usual for an EOI to request that you submit a CV and a brief statement detailing how your skills, knowledge, experience and personal attributes enable you to successfully perform the duties of the role. Selection can be by:
- comparison of CV and Statements;
- an informal interview process (where the supervisor asks you questions or discusses the job with you); or
- a more formal interview process with a panel of 2-3 people asking pre-determined questions.
The delegate can also limit the applicant pool to employees in a certain geographical area or to existing EPA employees only.
EOI applications must be received by the closing date. A late application may be considered within reason at the discretion of the Agency.
