Illustrated guide to entering houses in the Queensland Heritage Register

Queensland houses constitute one of our community's most precious heritage resources. Our distinctive ‘houses on stilts’ are just one aspect of a fascinating array of house styles, materials and forms dating from the 1840s. These places contribute greatly to the story of Queensland's history and to our understanding of how our society and our culture have evolved over time and in different parts of the state.

The Illustrated Guide to Entering Houses in the Queensland Heritage Register explores a set of 11 principles adopted by the Queensland Heritage Council to assist in the identification of houses of cultural heritage significance and in determining which houses are worthy of conservation and entry in the Queensland Heritage Register.

Copiously illustrated, the guide can be used by heritage professionals and the wider community alike and as an educational and information resource.
