Industrial Emissions Inventory for the SEQ Regional Airshed Model - 2006-2007
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is currently updating its computer model of air quality in South East Queensland (SEQ) so that it can provide better advice regarding the potential impact of policy and planning proposals on the region’s air quality.
The main inputs to regional air quality models are weather patterns and emissions of pollutants. As with most urban areas in developed countries, the two largest sources of air pollution from human activity in SEQ are motor vehicles and industry.
As advised by letter, EPA is seeking the assistance of industry in SEQ to improve the data regarding industrial emissions contained in the model.
Specifically, EPA is asking industry in SEQ to assist by providing data such as hourly emissions rates, hours of operation, and chimney characteristics.
The starting point for estimating hourly emission rates will be the annual emissions that industry has already prepared to satisfy NPI reporting requirements for 2006/07. The air pollutants of interest are:
- sulfur dioxide
- oxides of nitrogen
- carbon monoxide
- volatile organic compounds (VOCs)
- particles with aerodynamic diameter less than 10 microns (PM10)
An Excel workbook is provided for industry to supply the information that EPA requires:
Industrial Emissions Inventory for the SEQ Regional Airshed Model - 2006/07 (xls, 134kB)
Please enter as much information as you can into the spreadsheets and return the workbook by email to: industry.emissions@epa.qld.gov.au
If you have any queries, please contact Mr Scott McDowall on telephone (07) 3896 9252 or email scott.mcdowall@epa.qld.gov.au
Any data that you provide will only be used in the EPA’s regional air quality modelling studies. It will not be used for any enforcement purposes. Any information the EPA releases to the public will be summarised to prevent identification of individual companies or facilities.
