Referral Triggers

The EPA has an advice agency role under the Integrated Development Assessment System (IDAS) in relation to the following areas:

These triggers are those under Schedule 2 of the Integrated Planning Regulation 1998 (Qld) (IP Reg) that makes the EPA an advice agency for specific assessable development. The IDAS Assessment Checklist should be used to determine the relevant referral agencies for a development application.

For a full list of referral triggers, please see Schedule 2 of the IP Reg.

Wetlands

Wetland Definition
The IP Reg defines a wetland as “an area shown as a wetland on ‘Map of referable wetlands’, a document approved by the chief executive (environment)”.

Development triggers for wetlands as listed in Schedule 2 of the IP Reg include:

Conservation Estate

Development triggers for Conservation Estate as listed in Schedule 2 of the IP Reg include:

Note: There are currently no declared ‘critical habitats’ or ‘areas of major interest’ listed under the Nature Conservation Act 1992. No development applications should therefore be referred to the EPA under this trigger.
