Australia's strategy
The federal Department of Climate Change (formerly the Australian Greenhouse Office) was established on 3 December 2007 as part of the Prime Minister and Cabinet Portfolio.
The Australian Government is committed to ensuring Australia meets its responsibilities in facing this global challenge. This includes a comprehensive approach to:
- reduce emissions in Australia in the short and long term;
- work with the international community to develop a global response that is effective and fair; and
- prepare for the inevitable impacts of climate change.
The Australian Government has embraced a comprehensive plan of action to reduce our national emissions.
Queensland's strategy
The Queensland Government is leading and implementing strategies to manage the impact of climate change in Queensland.
Queensland 's strategy for helping to reduce national greenhouse gas emissions to 60 per cent of their 2000 level by 2050 is detailed in the government’s strategy:
