Queensland waste strategy discussion paper

The Environmental Protection Agency has commenced development of a new waste strategy for Queensland.

To assist in developing the strategy, the EPA released the Queensland Waste Strategy discussion paper titled 'Let's Not Waste Our Future' for public consultation.

Public consultation on the discussion paper ran from 22 October to 21 December 2007, the EPA received eighty-nine written submissions by post and email.

During November and early December, the EPA ran a number of targeted forums with key stakeholders including local government, the waste and recycling sector, environment and community groups and key industry sectors.

To ensure the most was gained from stakeholder input, the EPA commissioned Hyder Consulting to facilitate a number of forums.

The EPA has prepared a summary report of the written submissions, including feedback from stakeholder forums. Hyder Consulting has prepared a summary document for the stakeholder forums they facilitated.

These documents, as well as a copy of the discussion paper, can be downloaded through the links below. Limited printed copies of the discussion paper are also available on request.
