Birds
Cast your eyes towards the sky and you might see an animal gliding on a gentle breath of wind. While it's not Superman, it might be one of Queensland's 603 bird species. Spread your wings and use your mouse to discover our feathered friends.
While most birds are active during the day, some species prefer to come out under the cover of darkness. Frogmouths, nightjars and owls are night hunters that calmly roost during the day and stalk their prey at night.
All birds have a preferred habitat. While some of our winged inhabitants can be found in any habitat at any time of year, others only live in particular areas. You can encourage birds to your own backyard.
