Camping bookings
Before camping in a park, forest or similar reserve, you must obtain a camping permit and pay your camping fees.
Many campsites can now be booked online or by phone on 13 13 04.
At some parks and forests, you can pay your fees at a self-registration shelter. Under this system, you write out your own permit and insert your camping fees (cash, cheque or credit card number) in an envelope in a container at the registration sign in the campground. Bookings are not required.
Other campsites can be booked through the park/forest or district office. You must pay your campsite fees to secure your campsite.
Some campgrounds are heavily booked, especially on public holidays and school holidays. Book early — you can book a site up to 12 months before your planned visit. At least six weeks' advance booking is recommended.
Alterations and cancellations
Bookings may be altered, subject to availability, if sufficient notice is given. Bookings may be cancelled but you may not be entitled to a refund. To find out more, download the Refund operational policy.
Visitor Information Centres
Three Visitor Information Centres can make bookings for those "on the road".
- Capricorn Coast Visitor Information Centre at Yepoon.
- Cooloola Visitor Information Centre at Gympie.
- Rainforest and Reef Information Centre at Cardwell.
