Filming

From picturesque islands and lush coastal rainforests to stark desert landscapes, Queensland’s national parks and other protected areas contain some of the state’s best scenery. So, film makers and photographers are often keen to use parks as settings for movies, television programs and advertisements.

The Queensland Park and Wildlife Service considers all requests to use parks in this way. Preference is given to productions which promote nature-based recreation and conservation.

Permits and fees

Anyone wishing to undertake commercial filming on protected areas must first obtain a permit. To do this you will need to complete an application form. This form contains information about fees payable and details of where to send your application.

Forms and fees

The sliding scale of fees applicable to commercial filming/photography in QPWS-managed areas means that small operators least likely to damage the environment pay lower fees, while larger-scale productions pay higher fees to contribute to management of the area from which they benefit.

Application form: Permit to conduct commercial filming/photography.
