Ordering GIS Data

How can I place an order a GIS dataset from the Environmental Protection Agency?

If you are interested in ordering any of the listed EPA GIS datasets, please complete the EPA GIS Datasets Order Form and email or fax back to:

Data Coordinator
Environmental Information Systems Unit
Environmental Protection Agency
data.coordinator@epa.qld.gov.au
Fax: (07) 3220 3542

Data supplied for Educational Purposes

Please note that EPA data is not supplied directly to students. Data is only supplied to employees of educational institutions, such as professors, lecturers, teachers, etc. Such a person must apply on behalf of the student and may have to arrange for support from a Project Sponsor (within the EPA) to confirm via e-mail to the Data Coordinator. The Project Sponsor will also be required to sign the licence agreement.

There is no charge for supply of data to educational institutions.

How can I pay for the data?

The charges that apply to ordering datasets are documented in the Price List for EPA Datasets (for commercial clients only). All data is supplied under licence agreement. Note that there will be an additional charge if you have specific requirements in relation to any processing (e.g. sub setting, extraction, merging, etc). Please contact the Data Coordinator to get further information about these additional costs.

The data charge includes the cost of materials used to supply the data, the cost of handling, packaging and postage. The Environmental Protection Agency will send you an invoice after your order has been processed.

EPA/QPWS is GST registered with the ABN being: 87 221 158 786.

What will I receive after placing an order?

Once the Data Coordinator receives your order request, a licence agreement will be prepared and sent to you directly via email for your acceptance. You must supply an email address with your order. Once the Data Coordinator receives the accepted licence agreement the requested data will be sent directly to you by mail.

The GIS data set supplied will include the data that you've requested on CD or DVD, accompanying metadata, any ancillary information about the data if available (e g. data dictionary, etc) and in some cases an electronic copy of the licence conditions. You will also receive electronic copy of the accepted licence agreement.

Most GIS data sets can be supplied within five working days of your request. However, some requests can take up to four weeks to be finalised depending on their complexity.

How do I get further information about data or about placing an order?

If you need further information about these procedures, please contact the Data Coordinator ((07) 32276459 or data.coordinator@epa.qld.gov.au).
