Interactive Data Capture Tools
A number of data capture tools are being developed for collecting and submitting inventory data to the Wetland Information Capture System (WIC).
Field survey proforma
The Wetland Inventory Proforma has been developed for users to record on-ground inventory data and submit it electronically via the WIC website to the DERM’s wetland inventory database. The proforma is structured within five data themes:
1. Core wetland inventory (mandatory)
2. Geology (optional)
3. Flora (optional)
4. Fauna (optional)
5. Water quality (optional)
These themes align with data themes from the Australian wetland inventory that can be seen and measured in the field. Users have the option of undertaking a broad descriptive inventory or one with more detail around themes of interest.
A Wetland Inventory Proforma is available to download here. If you would like further information, or are interested in using the proforma, please contact us.
An additional proforma can be downloaded here for contributing data to the Coastal Bird Atlas programme. To learn more about the Coastal Bird Atlas programme visit the coastal bird atlas page. Any additional data contributed through this process will complement the Atlas's existing records which date back as far as 1819.
We recommend Adobe Acrobat Reader version 8 or above, although the proformas will work with version 7. Please visit Adobe to determine the system requirements for your operating system and download an Acrobat Reader.
Bulk upload tool
A demonstration bulk upload tool to upload larger quantities of information is available for download here (NB 3.3Mb). Users can cut and paste data into the spreadsheets which then validate the data before submitting on-line to WetlandInfo in XML format.
If you are interested in uploading your existing data to WIC or have any queries, please contact us.
Species names
Species names used on the data capture tools will be validated by WIC upon submission. For a list of all of the species in the database please contact us.
For lists of species observed in your basin, Natural Resource Management region or local government area, please go to the wetland summary information tool. Species lists can also be obtained for Queensland’s local government areas, protected areas, forestry areas and areas defined by the user using coordinates from the Wildlife Online website.
